OFFICIAL COMMUNIQUÉ:
«The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, on behalf of the Venezuelan People and Government, rejects the unilateral decision of the US President Donald Trump, when he withdrew his country from the Joint Comprehensive Action Plan, an agreement signed in July 2015 between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the G5 + 1 group.
This agreement was the constructive and shared result after twelve years of negotiations and active diplomacy among the signatory countries. It is worth noting that in the almost 3 years of application of the Agreement, the parties have repeatedly confirmed its application and proper functioning, through the International Atomic Energy Association (IAEA), so this measure by the Trump administration is an unjustifiable, unwanted and erratic step.
The Bolivarian Government of Venezuela urges the rest of the members of the Joint Comprehensive Action Plan, as well as the international community in general, to find ways to preserve the spirit and application of this important Agreement.
The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela reiterates once again its deep friendship and solidarity with the Iranian People and Government and expresses the hope that the supreme value of peace and respect for the sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iran will sustain the solutions to build between the parties involved».
