Deputy Minister Moncada rejects statements by US Vice President at the OAS

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for North America, Samuel Moncada, rejected the statements of the Vice President of the United States, Mike Pence, today during the Protocolary Session of the Permanent Council of the Organization of American States (OAS).

Pence called on Monday for new sanctions against Venezuelan officials and requested the suspension of Caracas from the OAS. He also proposed blocking visas for Venezuelan Government officials and urging the rest of the member countries of the agency to restrict operations with Caracas.

Moncada accused Mike Pence of committing an international crime, violating the Charter of the OAS and the Charter of the United Nations after his statements at the Protocolary Session of the Permanent Council of the OAS.

“This instance has disqualified itself, when it allows crimes to be committed in its name,” he complained.

He said that despite the effort made by the US Government, on May 20 in Venezuela there will be free and sovereign elections.

The meeting was attended by leaders of the Venezuelan opposition, who asked the US Vice President for pressure against the electoral process, an action that was answered by the representative of the Bolivarian Government:

“It is shameful, humbling, that Venezuelans come here to applaud a foreign power, to ask them to invade us, that we are a danger (…) they do not have embarrassment, they have no dignity, as they denigrate their own family, it is incredible, it gives me shame. That is why I say, we come to defend the dignity of Venezuela and we are going to do it here and everywhere. Today is a sad day for Latin America but a day of dignity for Venezuela, “he said.

Finally he called on the Fanb and the Venezuelan people to defend the Homeland.

“I want to tell the people of Venezuela, our Venezuelan military, we can not allow them to come and attack us, nobody, from anywhere, much less the vice president of a racist empire who has tried it with the whole region, humiliating, kicking everything the world, bullyng against Venezuela is not accepted here”, he said.
