The Secretary General of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), Mohammed Barkindo, highlighted on Monday the willingness and disposition of the Republic of Venezuela to strengthen the oil market.
From Miraflores Palace, Barkindo highlighted that thanks to the efforts and leadership of the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, the integration and the historic agreement of the OPEC and Non-OPEC countries was achieved, in order to stabilize the oil market.
He indicated that at the Meeting of the Joint Ministerial Monitoring Committee held in Oman, it was found that an application exceeding 100% of all the commitments that had been made under the agreement was achieved. He also pointed out that for the month of December of last year, a historic milestone was reached, since an application of the agreement of more than 129% was achieved.
«Venezuela, under its wise leadership, has played a key role in transforming this into reality. Not only have we turned a page of oil history, but today we are writing a new chapter in the oil history of the world», asserted the general secretary of OPEC, in a contact with Venezolana de Televisión.
He said that it is essential to continue working in order to guarantee the balance in the sustainable oil market that will benefit consumers, producers and the international community as a whole.
