We will go to the presidential elections with or without the opposition

The President of the Republic and candidate for re-election, Nicolás Maduro, informed that on Monday, February 5, the National Electoral Council will announce the date of the presidential elections.

“And we will go to the presidential elections with the opposition or without the opposition, we are resolved and firmly decided,” he said when he welcomed in Miraflores Palace a civic-military march to commemorate 26 years of the rebellion of February 4, 1992 and to ratify his presidential candidacy.

He denounced that the opposition leaders have been “fooling around” and called them to sign the agreement for the peace agreement and to participate in the electoral process.

“Enough of fooling around, Ramos Allup, do sign the agreement. Enough of fooling around, Julio Borges, do sign the agreement. Enough of fooling around, Manuel Rosales, do sign the agreement”, urged the Head of State to the leaders of the opposition.

He recalled that the presidential elections will be made in the first quarter of the year, by decision of the ANC, and urged the people to participate in the electoral process.

He asserted that the opposition is torn between two scenarios before the elections. The first one is to launch presidential candidates or a presidential candidate and go to the elections. The second is not to register candidacies or withdraw from elections near the dates, call for abstention and sabotage the elections. And he assured that both scenarios are conditioned by the instructions given to them by the Government of the United States of America.

“I want the opposition to have Henry Ramos Allup as their presidential candidate, to beat him up with the votes of the people on the day set by the CNE. I formally ask the Government of Donald Trump to give Ramos Allup permission to launch as candidate”, he said.

Among the possible opposition candidates he listed Henry Ramos Allup, Henry Falcon, Manuel Rosales and Claudio Fermín.

The candidate of the revolutionary forces said that in a scenario where the opposition calls for abstention, the (revolutionary) militancy must activate with force the 4 x 4 machinery and reach more than 10 million votes, to give them a lesson in legitimacy.

“I am ready to be the presidential candidate of the patriotic, revolutionary, Bolivarian and Chavista forces of Venezuela (…) And I am going to the elections with Ramos Allup or without Ramos Allup, and we are going to win with the people turning on to the voting stations by millions”, he exclaimed.

He finally ordered the Minister of People’s Power for Defense, G / J Vladimir Padrino Lopez, to activate the Republic Plan, to ensure peace and order in the presidential elections.
