Bolivarian Government is ready to sign agreement of coexistence with the opposition

The National President, Nicolás Maduro, reaffirmed that the delegation of the Bolivarian Government is ready to sign the agreement of peace and political coexistence with the Venezuelan opposition.

The Head of State stressed that this comprehensive seven-point agreement will ensure “permanent dialogue, peace and democracy” in Venezuela; He also confirmed that on Sunday night, the talks in Santo Domingo, the Dominican Republic, resumed, with the installation of “the dialogue table for the search for peace, to seek an agreement of understanding, of coexistence.”

He said that on January 13 both delegations were on the verge of signing the final document, which contemplates seven points around the celebration of presidential elections in the first semester of 2018, electoral guarantees, observation in elections, repudiation against sanctions against the country, creation of a social and economic commission, commitment for the National Assembly to come out of contempt and recognition of the National Constituent Assembly (ANC), as a plenipotentiary organ.

“The other time we were minutes from signing the agreement in the dialogue table we hope that this time the Venezuelan opposition delegation will reach the Dominican Republic, and have the capacity for dialogue, negotiation and understanding. I am ready. I am the man of dialogue, of the word. I believe in the dialogue because I believe in the Venezuelan who is an opponent”, he said in statements offered to the press from the Commander Hugo Chávez Sports Complex, located in Fort Tiuna, Caracas.

He indicated that in spite of having great criticism on the leaders of the opposition parties, Primero Justicia, Voluntad Popular, Acción Democrática and Un Nuevo Tiempo, he has the will to establish an agreement to promote peaceful coexistence for the welfare and stability of the country. .

“Above the severe criticism, I have the obligation to reach agreements for the peace of the country”, he said.

Despite the progress made in the previous meeting in Santo Domingo 15 days ago, both delegations set a new meeting for January 18, which was not attended by the opposition.

The process of dialogue has been an initiative of the Head of State, who since 2013 has made more than 400 calls to the opposition for the signing of an agreement for peace and democratic stability.

As of September 2017, began a new stage of dialogue in the Dominican Republic, with the support of the former President of the Spanish Government, José Rodríguez Zapatero and the Dominican President, Danilo Medina, as well as Chile, Mexico, Bolivia, Nicaragua and St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
