Carmen Meléndez: We must get to where the most vulnerable families are

On Tuesday, December 26, the last meeting of the Single Major Government Staff for the year 2017 took place, which was chaired by the Governor of Lara state, Carmen Meléndez, together with the regional secretary of government, Yanys Agüero, and which was attended by regional and national organizations and institutions; as well as the Missions, Great Missions, mayors of the nine municipalities of the state elected in the last municipal elections.

During the meeting Governor Carmen Meléndez referred to the current situation in the country where, as a result of the economic war, many Venezuelan families are suffering from malnutrition, which is why she pointed out that from the Bolivarian Government of Lara and the timely the most felt needs of the people of Lara state.

“There is a nutritional deficit, in Lara we must get to where the most vulnerable families are, these households must reach the CLAP every 15 days, in addition to the food supplement distributed by the National Institute of Nutrition,” demanded the Governor of Lara.

In the same way, she informed that as of January 2018 the relaunching of the missions and major missions system will take place to provide excellent service to everyone.

Meléndez also requested a real census of people with disabilities through the country’s card and reach 100% coverage.

About the meeting held in the city of Caracas with the ministries in different areas, she emphasized that four national plans have been established that will be addressed in each region, among them: National Plan for solid waste, potable water, transportation, security and peace.

Regarding the transport area, it was reported that the reactivation of suppliers was agreed to guarantee the operation of the public transport units, especially the Yutong (Built through a cooperation agreement with China) ones.

In the security area, she indicated that the peace quadrants will be increased, in Lara three will be added to the existing 57, especially for the North Beltway, from El Ujano to Carorita. In the same way, a maintenance to the automotive park of the police bodies of Lara will be made.

Due to the demand of the Ministry of People’s Power for Interior Relations, Justice and Peace, the number of police officers should be increased to six per thousand inhabitants, for which reason she informed that they will increase their enrollment to the UNES.

Regarding the scope obtained through the Joint Chiefs of Staff, she highlighted that in the health area, through the 0800-SALUD YA toll free number, 1500 people have been attended in three journeys held on December 12, 22 and 23.

They were included in the pension system 3343 older adults who should enjoy this benefit, for a total of 316,800 people from Lara benefited in different areas.

Melendez also stressed that during the days leading up to Christmas, more than 500,000 toys were given to children between 0 and 12 years of age, complying with what was established by President Nicolás Maduro in guaranteeing a happy Christmas.
