Panama Congress! 193 years later the Revolution continues its fight for the self-determination of the peoples

On Thursday, the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, recalled the 193 years of Simón Bolívar’s call to the Panama Congress, to sow the path of self-determination of the peoples to be free of the hegemonic powers.

Through his social networks, the Head of State wrote that the vision of the Father of the Homeland and Liberator of Nations, Simón Bolívar, was to integrate all the territories of America into a single block, in order to take advantage of the immense potential of our continent, against the empires of the time, being consolidated later by Commander Chávez and the Revolutionary process.

“His ideas today materialize in the great alliances that have emerged, such as Unasur and Celac, where the peoples have united politically, economically, socially and culturally, to face the hegemonic powers of imperialism that still threaten us, but They will not be able to join us, because we are determined to be free and sovereign”, he explained.

On December 7, 1824, from Peru, a letter was written to all the liberated territories of America to hold a congress on the Isthmus of Panama, where the union of the Republics would be considered, resuming and updating the project of Generalissimo Francisco de Miranda .

With this, Simon Bolivar understood that divided and isolated would not be possible the advance of the American peoples against the strong pressures of Europe, and that imperialism would make us vulnerable.
