Government and opposition draw roadmap to consolidate dialogue

The Dominican Republic Foreign Minister, Miguel Vargas, reported on Thursday that the National Government and the opposition defined the agenda and methodology to consolidate the dialogue for peace in the country.

“The meeting that we have held has been considered by all participants in a very positive way because we conclude what should be the essence of the meeting of December 1 and 2, both the agenda, the methodology part and the rules that will to govern these meetings”, he said in a press conference broadcast on VTV.

Vargas said that the Venezuelan Government and the opposition sectors ratified their commitment to these meetings for the peace and well-being of the Venezuelan people, respecting sovereignty.

For his part, the Head of the Government delegation, Jorge Rodríguez, informed the media that after six hours of meeting “we all achieved a paragraph where respect for our national sovereignty is requested and, also, the international community is asked that encourages this dialogue effort instead of aggressive actions against Venezuela”.

The next meetings for dialogue between representatives of the National Government and the Venezuelan opposition will be held on December 1 and 2 of this year. The foreign ministers of Mexico, Chile, Paraguay, Bolivia, Nicaragua and a sixth country that will be announced by the Venezuelan Government this Friday will be included in these meetings.

The dialogue will be chaired by the President of the Dominican Republic, Danilo Medina, with the participation of the former President of the Spanish Government José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero.
