ANC approves advance of municipal elections for December

The National Constituent Assembly (ANC) approved this Thursday to advance the municipal elections for next December.

The request was made this Thursday by a member of the plenipotentiary body, Francisco Ameliach, who proposed to hold elections for mayors, whose terms culminate this year.

In an ordinary session held in the Protocolary Chamber of the Federal Legislative Palace, the constituent stressed that the country’s revolutionary forces offer a clear project to the people with suffrage as one of its bases, while the Venezuelan right insists on playing a role that matches it to foreign interests that claim to seize Venezuela.

After concluding the debate, the first vice-president of the ANC, Aristóbulo Istúriz, read the decree in which the organ announced the decision to carry out the municipal elections in the month of December 2017.

The decision of the plenipotentiary body will be notified to the Chairwoman of the National Electoral Council (CNE), Tibisay Lucena.
