Pres. Maduro: A smear campaign has been launched against the CNE

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, denounced on Friday that a smear campaign has been launched from abroad against the Venezuelan National Electoral Council.

“It is a disrespect to the 11 million voters to say that in Venezuela the people are being forced to vote,” said the National President during the swearing in of the Governor for Lara state, Carmen Melendez.

In a joint radio and television broadcast, the Head of State said that these attacks “are expressions of envy, because if the right-wing Governments of other countries carried out these electoral processes they would be destroyed by the rejection of 80%”.

“What expresses the Colombian right wing and the Gringo right wing is a deep envy, because if Juan Manuel Santos was launched for the presidential candidacy he would be done with the rejection of more than an 80%; Santos would like to have the strength of the Bolivarian Revolution to win elections one after another, because they can not have the strength of the people”, he said.

He stressed that after the results of the elections on October 15, the Revolution “Is more alive and stronger than ever, it is now when there is a Revolution for long”.
