President Maduro calls Venezuela’s ambassador to Canada to consultation

The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, called on Tuesday the Venezuelan ambassador to Canada, Wilmer Barrientos, to consultation.

This query follows the declarations issued by the Canadian Government that questioned the legitimacy of the regional elections held on October 15, in which on 17 of the 23 governorships conquered the candidates of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV).

“President Nicolás Maduro has decided to call our ambassador to Canada, Wilmer Barrientos, to consultations,” said Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza through his Twitter account.

Earlier at the press conference on international media, the Head of State deplored statements made by the Government of Canada that ignored the will expressed by a 61.14% of the Electoral Register, the highest participation registered for a regional election.

“Right-wing governments lack respect for 11 million Venezuelans who came to vote in regional elections. I do not care whether the Government of Canada acknowledges the results or not, we are independent and sovereign, you insolent Government, Venezuela belongs to us, leave our country in peace”, he said.
