Lima group acknowledges Venezuelan democracy

The 12 countries that make up the self-called Lima Group acknowledged in a communique issued by the Peruvian Foreign Ministry “the strengths of Venezuelan democracy” by calling on the population to vote on October 15 in the regional elections.

The Chancellor of the Republic, Jorge Arreaza, described the position taken by the representatives of the Governments of Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay and Peru as contradictory and interfering.

“Governments conjured in Lima call the Venezuelan Government a dictatorship, then they call to vote in our democratic elections”, wrote the official.

Arreaza said that the “self-called Lima Group will remain marked for the history of diplomacy with the stain of subordination to imperialist interests.”
