Historical! Mining engine delivers more than four tons of gold to BCV

On Thursday, 476 kilograms of gold arrived in Caracas from Bolivar state, as part of the advance of the Mining Engine driven by the National Government to diversify the economy and overcome oil rents.

A plane with 45 gold bars landed at La Carlota airport, where it was received by the Minister of the People’s Power for Ecological Mining Development, Víctor Cano, who reported that this cargo exceeded the figure of four tons of gold delivered to the vaults of the Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV).

“We had not a delivery of more than four tons of gold since 2009. It has been an effort we have made between the Ministry of Ecological Development and more than 25,000 organized small miners”, said Minister Cano.

With the deployment of the Mining Engine in the Orinoco Mining Arc, small-scale mining has shipped gold as a sign of its patriotic will to contribute to the development of new sources of wealth for the country, with the responsible use of the vast reserve of resources minerals that lie in the south of Bolivar state.

It was in April this year when the mining People’s power sent the first delivery with 238 kilograms of gold. This one of this Thursday is the ninth gold delivery to the BCV and, according to Minister Cano, the purpose is to increase the amount of gold each month.

“This delivery represents a further achievement of the Bolivarian Government and an expression of sovereignty. With these resources, we increase the coffers of the BCV. This gold, which is present in the Orinoco Mining Arc, belongs to all Venezuelans”, he said.

Minister Cano explained that the main reason for the periodic gold deliveries “is to strengthen the nation’s economy: that the country has resources guaranteed in gold and, thus, increase our international reserves.”
