Word complied! Bolivarian Government stands firm in dialogue

The representative of the Bolivarian Government for the political dialogue with the opposition held at the Dominican Republic, Jorge Rodríguez, ratified this Wednesday the willingness of the Venezuelan state to maintain the policy of peace and diplomacy as the main strategy to achieve peace and dialogue with the country’s opposition.

“We have fulfilled the agreement to be here … we do believe in dialogue. Dialogue is already an unstoppable process”, he said.

He thanked the President of the Dominican Republic, Danilo Medina, and the chancellor of that country, Miguel Vargas, for the management made to resume the talks between both sectors.

Regarding the non-participation of representatives of the Venezuelan opposition, he said that their absence was due to internal struggles among its members. However, after a meeting held with that Caribbean island’s President, Danilo Medina, Rodriguez said he expects they would be reinstated in the coming hours.

“The difficulties within the opposition prevent the meetings from taking place with the dynamism that we would want … I appeal to the Venezuelan opposition: Do not allow your internal problems to hinder the process of dialogue … nobody wants violence in Venezuela. We want to insist on the proposal of dialogue (…) we are ready for an agreement”, he said.

Despite the absence of the delegation of the sectors that oppose the Bolivarian Revolution, he emphasized that diverse conversations have been established between both political sectors.

He expressed his concern about the recent violent events in small parts of the capital, ensuring that Venezuela wants a political dialogue to live in peace.

He said that on previous meetings, held on September 12 and 13, was agreed on three key issues on the negotiating agenda. As a first point, the establishment of the tables of coexistence between both sectors, so that the Venezuelan people may define its future through an electoral schedule. On this point, tentative dates for the presidential and mayoral elections scheduled for 2018 were discussed.

Secondly, the rejection of the interference and sanctions imposed by the empire and its allies against Venezuela, as well as the work of the Commission for Justice and Truth of the ANC, to clarify the violent acts perpetrated from April to July this year by sectors of opposition, as well as the correction of the contempt of the current National Parliament.

Thirdly, it was agreed to meet again in the Dominican Republic on September 27, together with the President of that nation, a missive unfulfilled by the opposition delegation.

On the friendly countries that joined the strengthening of political dialogue (Mexico, Chile, Bolivia, and Nicaragua), Rodríguez expressed his satisfaction with the actions of each delegation, while not ruling out its enlargement.

The delegation of the National Executive is made up of Jorge Rodriguez, the president of the ANC, Delcy Rodriguez, the diplomat Roy Chaderton, and the Minister of People’s Power for Education, Elias Jaua.
