Venezuela is world champion in liberties, democracy and participation

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, stressed that the Bolivarian Homeland, which this year will celebrate the 22nd election of the last 18 years, is the world champion nation in liberties, democracy and participation.

“We are world champions of liberties, of democracy, of participation, of protagonism, of elections. World champions, nobody will take that away from us”, he said at the ceremony of acknowledgement of officials of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB), mainly of the National Bolivarian Guard (GNB), who have rendered their services for the maintenance of order after the violent actions that have been executed by terrorist sectors since the beginning of last April.

The Venezuelan President recalled that in these 18 years have been held in the country a total of 20 electoral processes, of which in 18 the Revolution has emerged triumphant, while it “has accepted and acknowledged immediately two defeats”.

President Maduro recalled that in 2017 two more elections will be held: “The 21st: The one for the Constituent Assembly, and the 22nd: that of the Governors”, which have already been convened by the National Electoral Council (CNE), whose President, Tibisay Lucena, has already reported on both election’s timelines.

It is “a positive announcement for the democratic calendar of the country,” said the Head of State, while repudiating the positions taken by sectors of the Venezuelan opposition that have manifested in rejection of these two calls.

“What has been the reaction of the opposition?. To refuse to participate in the Constituent Assembly”,  said the President, adding that the proposal to the country by this opposition sector can not be violence.

The violent plan has been running since the beginning of last April, leaving more than 60 people dead, while more than a thousand have been injured, which is also added to millions of damages to public and private property.
