Prosecutor Luisa Ortega Díaz endorsed selection of TSJ judges

“The Republican Moral Council convened a meeting for December 16, 2015, with a document received, sealed and signed by everyone convened, to discuss the nomination of the Magistrates of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) of that period, the same meeting that was attended by the three holders of the Citizen Power”.

The statement was made on Tuesday by the Ombudsman, Tarek William Saab, referring to the claim of nullity filed by Prosecutor Luisa Ortega Diaz before the TSJ against the appointment of 33 magistrates who were, according to what she said, chosen by irregular processes on December 23, 2015.

In his statements, Saab expressed his surprise at the controversy armed by Prosecutor Ortega Diaz, with an easily established fact; In his opinion, the fact that false statements are made about a meeting of which there is evidence on file, contaminates any subsequent action attempted by the high official.

“The meeting was held in very fraternal terms, in which none of the attendees objected to the appointment of the magistrates, there was not a single vote against, any inhibition or abstention, that is on file and is of the public knowledge”, said.Saab.
