The Constituent Assembly is the only peaceful way out in Venezuela

«The Constituent Assembly is the only peaceful way out, the only way out within the Constitution, the only democratic way out, and also deeply Chavista, because part of Chavez’s legacy is the National Constituent Assembly.»

The statement was made by the Vice Minister for the Development of Territorial Socialism, Aristóbulo Istúriz, during the transmission of the «Dando y Dando – Radio» (Taking and Giving- Radio) program, which he leads through the signal of RNV Informative channel.

Istúriz pointed out that in the face of the dilemma that arises on the national scene, the Constituent Assembly is the only instrument to settle between «war or peace, violence or coexistence, destruction or work, life or death; That dilemma must be solved peacefully and that is what the National Constituent Assembly is for».

He condemned the actions of the Attorney General, Luisa Ortega Diaz, who in his opinion has incurred in ignoring the constitutional text when requesting the nullity of the convening of the National Constituent Assembly, considering that it is the people who have the Power to convene for an ANC.

In this sense, he explained that although article 347 of the Constitution states that: «The people are the depository of the original power and in the exercise of that power can be called for the National Constituent Assembly (…)» in article 348 of the Constitutional rule is established who can activate the call. «I do not know how the Attorney General does not value these things and incurs in the repeated error».

Istúriz also called on the revolutionary militancy to assume the constituent campaign with organization and arguments. «We must be prepared to do in practice what Chavez always said: In order to overcome, we must convince, and to convince we need argumentation and mobilization; That’s why we have to have sharp arguments, we should all be prepared to go house by house».
