Commission for Truth will provide care for victims of violence

The National Commission for Truth, installed on April 12, 2015, by request of the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, to address the episodes of violence between 1999 and 2015, aims to address each of the people affected by the Terrorist acts, regardless of the circumstances.

The information was provided by Executive Secretary of the National Human Rights Council, Larry Davoe, interviewed in the “Encendidos” (Turned on) program, broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión, on which he said that they have already contacted some of the relatives of the victims of violence.

“We have an obligation to reach out, protect and care for the person who was affected by the deviant action of an official of a state security body, as well as all those who have been victims of violent groups that try that way to obtain what they can not achieve through the democratic exercise in the country”.

President Maduro proposed the creation of a Commission for Truth within the National Constituent Assembly (ANC), with higher powers, which will be responsible for the drawing up of a report to be taken by the ANC and raised to a Higher level, due to its plenipotentiary character.

He pointed out that the work of all truth commissions, within the current legal framework, is “to carry out an investigation and submit to the country a report with recommendations for the attention of the victims, strengthen justice processes, consolidate peace and promote reconciliation”.
