Consultations of the Constituent Presidential Commission extended for a week


The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, announced on Thursday that the assemblies to discuss the constitutional process, convened last May 1st by the National Executive, will be extended until next week.

“I have decided to extend the consultation until next week to continue listening to all the sectors that want to express their opinions. To open the doors of Miraflores to them”, said the Head of State in a joint radio and television broadcast made from the Bicentennial Square of Miraflores Palace in Caracas, where took place a graduation ceremony of 624 teachers of the Micro-missión Simón Rodríguez.

“We have talked with opposition political parties, noted their criticisms, their proposals. We have listened to all the religious sectors, in ecumenical dialogue, we listened to more than a thousand businessmen who came to the meeting … We have listened to unions, workers, indigenous people, pensioners, women, students, cultists, intellectuals , Playwrights, poets, musicians. All sectors have been consulted”, added the National President.

In this regard, he called on all sectors of the country to participate in the constitutional process, to consolidate the peace and stability of the Republic.

“I want all sectors to participate in the elections that will be convened to elect constituent deputies,, territorial and sectoral ones. I want all social sectors to be registered, and for it to be a social, citizen, popular constituent. A cultural, educational, economic constituent. A national constituent. Not one of elites, it is the great power, the constituent power”, he said.

On the other hand, President Maduro reiterated his willingness to the national dialogue with sectors of the opposition, in order to solve the current situation of the country. “I continue to ratify my will to dialogue to the cupola of the MUD (Bureau of Democratic Unity)”, he stressed.

In this regard, he regretted that sectors of the MUD and the Venezuelan Episcopal Conference refused to participate in the constituent process.

In this regard, the President stated that he instructed the Chairman of the Presidential Commission of the constituent process, Elías Jaua, in order to preserve peace.
