President Maduro reaffirmed his commitment to national dialogue

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, ratified on Tuesday his willingness to continue in the national dialogue tables with the Venezuelan opposition, installed since last October.

“I want dialogue, I want peace. Which one is the alternative to dialogue? I have said it a thousand times: War? Killing each other? Is war an alternative for Venezuela? No … At the scenario of Venezuela there is peace, coexistence”, he said, during a broadcast from the Presidential Hall on Ramp 4 of the Maiquetía International Airport “Simón Bolívar” in Vargas state, from where he departed to Nicaragua for the act of taking possession of his counterpart, Daniel Ortega.

He stressed that on Monday Pope Francis ratified his support for dialogue and peace in Venezuela, as well as to the international accompaniment, among whom he mentioned former President of the Spanish Government, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero.

In this sense, the Head of State called the Venezuelan people to coexist and “not fall into anonymous calls and provocations.”

“All that is happening is the backlash of (Barack) Obama, we all know it. It’s (about) Obama’s obsession with Venezuela. It has become an obsession to hurt Venezuela”, he warned.

He added that “there is a way to build a solid peace and stability and that’s where we must walk through.”

He also stressed that the Venezuelan opposition does not respect the rules of the Constitution and are determined, as he expressed, to destroy the country.

During the broadcast, the President said that on Tuesday afternoon Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino López will explain to the country and the Council of Ministers the Zamora 200 civil-military defense operations, which are in full deployment and on Saturday 14 will have their maximum operating point.

He referred to the murder, 157 years ago, of the General of the sovereign people, Ezequiel Zamora, to whom he said that will pay homage with the military exercises.

He also recalled the oath, ten years ago, made by Commander Hugo Chavez as President of the Republic, in what corresponded to his third period and “the oligarchy started the operation only a few days later, disrespecting the electoral result,” even though Chávez had won with 63 % Of votes.
