President Maduro reaffirms loyalty to Chávez’s legacy on the commemoration of the Day of Loyalty and Love

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, led the commemoration of the Day of Loyalty and Love, when marking thirteen years since the last public proclamation of Commander Hugo Chávez, delivered on December 8, 2012.

In a message broadcast through his channel on Telegram, the Venezuelan Head of State delivered an emotional speech to the people and in memory of the founding leader of the Bolivarian Revolution. With the powerful phrase «We have not failed him and we will never fail him!», President Maduro ratified the commitment to continue the historical project initiated by Chávez.

«We are all Chávez, and today we say to him, Commander Chávez, it has been worth it, all the struggle, all the love for the Homeland, and all the victory,» expressed the president, highlighting the Venezuelan people’s fidelity to the oath of loyalty that was made at that time.

In his address, the president recalled the difficult context of Chávez’s final message and emphasized that his words were directed «to the decades and centuries to come.» He affirmed that this teaching of trusting in the people, whom he called the «Greater Warrior,» has been the compass that has allowed the nation to face and wage «great battles against conspiracies, sanctions, blockades, and imperial aggressions.»

Thirteen years after that proclamation, President Maduro called on the men and women of the country to feel proud, because, in his words, «the Bolivarian Revolution is alive, victorious, and riding the waves of the 21st century.»

He concluded with a vigorous greeting: «Long live the Day of Loyalty and Love to Chávez and the Homeland!», thus reaffirming the symbolic fusion between the commander’s legacy and the destiny of the nation.
