The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, through the Minister of People’s Power for Foreign Relations, Yván Gil, expressed its deepest gratitude to the Islamic Republic of Iran for its unequivocal statement in support of Venezuela’s sovereignty, peace, and legitimate rights in the face of unjustified external threats from the United States.
Chancellor Gil, on behalf of President Nicolás Maduro, highlighted through his official channels that the Iranian support strengthens Venezuela’s position as a defender of the United Nations Charter and its inalienable right to protect itself from any aggression: «We thank Iran for its solidarity and for recognizing our struggle to preserve peace and the self-determination of our people,» he said.
The Iranian government’s statement, cited in the communication, was forceful in affirming that «there is no justification whatsoever for threats or the use of force against Venezuela,» emphasizing that, as a member of the UN, the country has the inherent right to defend itself against any external threat. Iranian authorities condemned actions based on force and international intimidation, noting that these actions, if not met with comprehensive resistance, could set a dangerous precedent for the violation of international law.
The Venezuelan Chancellory took the opportunity to reiterate the strong bonds of solidarity and cooperation that unite both nations. «Our alliance, based on mutual respect, is a crucial pillar in the joint construction of a multipolar world and in the defense against external pressures,» as detailed Minister Gil.
Iran also recognized and praised Venezuela’s leadership within the Non-Aligned Countries Movement and the Group of Friends of the UN Charter, reaffirming its commitment to maintaining and strengthening collaboration with Caracas, as well as with other allies such as China and Russia, in various international and multilateral forums.
This strategic alliance between Venezuela and Iran thus consolidates as an example of cooperation between sovereign nations that seek to counteract unilateral pressures and defend the international order based on respect and equality among states.
