President Maduro qualifies Bolivia as Venezuela’s «Favorite Sister»

President Nicolás Maduro affirmed that Bolivia holds a special place for his country, calling it “its favorite sister,» echoing Simón Bolívar’s words, who called it his «favorite daughter.» During the closing of the International Seminar on the Bicentennial of Bolivia 1825-2025, Maduro emphasized that Venezuela celebrates Bolivian progress and regrets when the country faces threats such as «imperialism, coups d’état, and neoliberalism.»

The Venezuelan president reiterated his nation’s unconditional support for Bolivia, assuring that the Bolivian people can always count on the «sons and daughters of Bolívar and Sucre.» He also emphasized that both peoples will share the mission of completing the pending historical objectives of the independence struggle.

Maduro also reflected on the legacy of Simón Bolívar and Antonio José de Sucre, highlighting their geopolitical vision, their commitment to freedom and equality, and their ability to challenge the paradigms of their time. He emphasized that both leaders, despite controversies and obstacles, maintained republican principles and a clear awareness of their historic role.

He concluded by quoting José Martí to remind that the Bolivarian project remains unfinished in Latin America, which represents a pending task for current generations: «The historic mission demands us to continue what Bolívar began,» he affirmed.
