On this day, 50 years ago, the leader of the Bolivarian Revolution, Commander Hugo Chávez, graduated from the Venezuelan Military Academy (The House of the Blue Dreams), where he forged a deep sense of patriotism that gave rise to the Bolivarian Revolution.
This transcendental date was celebrated by President Nicolás Maduro through his social media with a moving video that reminds us of the fighting spirit and love of the “Arañero de Sabaneta” for his military life:
“It was half a century ago, in the sacred courtyard of our military forces, when the young man from Sabaneta de Barinas, his chest swelling with happiness and pride, was promoted to second lieutenant, fulfilling his life’s mission by donning the glorious uniform of our Army. There was graduating the man who would become the leader of a new era, of a new independence, the one who opened the doors of our homeland to the 21st century,” wrote the president to recall the importance of this moment.
“The most profound thing I learned at that beloved Military Academy was to deeply and infinitely love my Homeland”, said Chávez in an interview. Chávez arrived in Caracas with the dream of being a baseball player but later decided to pursue the path of arms, inspired by the emancipatory struggle of our Liberator Simón Bolívar.
