Ernesto Villegas, Minister for Communication and Information, said he is pleased with the decisions made by the National Electoral Council (CNE). “I am sure that Venezuelan democracy will be strengthened with the electoral processes that will be held next year.”
In this regard, he recalled that each party shall be free to launch their candidates since, in his opinion, Venezuela is a democracy that expresses a plurality of options.
On the subject of the recall referendum, he wondered “why on January 11 this year when it was met the first half of the term of President Nicolas Maduro, those interested in activating a recall referendum, who were already in a position to do so, did not did it in due date? ensuring that the process could not be this year, because “themselves (the opposition) sinned for being out of time and neither the National Electoral Council nor the Government can carry with that consequence.”
He said that although the Constitution provides the tool of the referendum, is it can be activated as long as all requirements are met, but the priority for the people is to solve the economic situation.
New economic measures:
According to Minister Villegas “All the Governors and Mayors will end up obeying the ruling of the Supreme Tribunal of Justice (TSJ) on the 2017 sovereign budget and even the National Assembly will do so, rationality will prevail.”
With regard to the country’s economy, he said that in the coming days the President of the Republic, Nicolas Maduro, will make a tour through OPEC and non-OPEC oil-producing countries, with the aim of achieving to establish “fair” oil prices “exactly what Commander Chavez did when we were in an economic downturn.”
He added that besides the strictly oil subject, the Venezuelan President reached a cooperation agreement with Russia for the stabilization of the wheat industry.
