Venezuelan Episcopal Conference refuses dialogue

Hace 6 meses.

The Venezuelan Episcopal Conference has not yet received a response regarding its participation in the dialogue boards of the Presidential Commission for the National Constituent Assembly.

There are already two communications sent, and nothing has happened, said the Commission’s President, Elías Jaua, during an interview on the “José Vicente Hoy” (José Vicente Today) program, broadcast by the private TV station Televen. “The church has to listen to the Government and the spokesmen of millions of Venezuelans.”

President Nicolás Maduro raised the possibility that the Presidential Commission would move to the headquarters of the CEV, in case they could not attend the meetings in Miraflores, but until now they have not responded to the invitations.

Despite the refusal of the Venezuelan church, the Presidential Commission for the Constituent Assembly has welcomed evangelical pastors and priests from parishes who have joined the talks. This initiative “has allowed us to talk to sectors that we had never touched directly.”
