The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, submitted to the National Constituent Assembly a draft law against political violence, which establishes sentences between 15 and 25 years of prison.

“Peace has come to Venezuela since the first day of the National Constituent Assembly. The time has come to overcome the campaigns of hatred, intolerance, violence, persecution. The time has come, through a great political process, to create conscience and, through very severe laws, punish hate, intolerance crimes in all its forms of expression, so those are definitely finished with. Let us begin a great campaign against hatred”, said the Head of State.

From the protocol chamber of the Federal Legislative Palace, in his presentation to the ANC, the Head of State detailed that the 120 days of political violence promoted by the opposition left more than 100 dead, over a thousand injured and at least 29 people burned, facts that get in line with the actions of the Nazi-fascist movements of the world.

He said that the greatest victims of all these attacks are the Venezuelan families, and to a greater extent children and young people throughout the country.

“We are seeking peace, the union of the Venezuelan families. We are looking for harmony, the reunion of Venezuela”, he said.

The draft law must be discussed by the ANC, for its subsequent approval and for it to enter into force as a legal instrument in the Republic.
