The President of the Constituent Presidential Commission, Elías Jaua, reported Monday that has concluded the first phase of consultations of the Commission appointed by the Head of State, for what he offered a balance where he emphasized that 236 Municipal Councils and 22 Legislative Councils sent agreements supporting the Constituent.
“The first phase of information and consultation with broad sectors of the country has been completed, on the initiative taken by President Maduro in the exercise of his constitutional powers to convene a National Constituent Assembly, as a mechanism to open new political spaces, to isolate the Violence and recover dialogue and peace”, he said.
He explained that although there are differences between political parties are responsible for ensuring peace in the territory, so that since May 2 have convened all sectors of the country.
“We have 20 days of work and we have met with each one to explain the absolute competence of the President to take the initiative and the character of the universal, direct and secret election by which the constituents will be elected.
Jaua detailed that of the sectors that participated received from “236 Municipal Councils supporting the initiative of the National Constituent Assembly, likewise 22 Legislative Councils have manifested in the exercise of their majority.”
He reported that they have received 7 large mobilizations representing 12 productive sectors of the country that have registered their expressions of support for the initiative, just as on Thursday and Friday in 69 spaces of the territory there was a great debate involving 600 thousand people.
The President of the Commission emphasized the meeting they had with the Venezuelan Episcopal Conference, calling it a space for a cordial and profound dialogue.
He added that the recommendations include: maintaining the electoral timetable, measures to defuse hatred, actions to rescue coexistence, recovery of the productive economy, actions for the defense of independence and national sovereignty.
“We thank President Maduro for his confidence in all these men and women … to achieve through this great effort of dialogue with important sectors a way to preserve peace in the territory and vaccinate against hatred, intolerance and Threats of a civil war between brothers”, he said.
